A VERY IMPORTANT UPDATE FOR OUR PATIENTS

Based on our extensive research, Precision Dental has implemented several additional precautionary measures to make your return to our office safer for you and our team.  It was our top priority not just to implement measures to “appear” different or “make patients feel good about seeing added precautions,” but to base our changes and new procedures on a grounded scientific knowledge that will ACTUALLY serve to reduce viral or bacterial transmission risk.  These measures are certainly not intended to discourage you from returning to our office for regular care, but to ensure that your safety is paramount!!  These measures far exceed the basic recommended precautions laid out by the Center for Disease Control (CDC), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the American Dental Association (ADA).  Rest assured that we will also not be returning to “normal” scheduling until we have all the proper resources in place to do so safely! 

Unfortunately, due to very high demand, as a consequence of Covid-19 (Corona Virus), some of our most basic, imperative Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), supplies and devices ordered to keep our patients safe are back-ordered, temporarily unavailable or are still being diverted to hospitals; therefore, we will be postponing scheduling until this essential aspect has been rectified.  But, thanks to our early anticipation of the recommendations and our ability to procure limited supplies throughout this crisis, Dr. Snyder can continue to see urgent and emergency cases.  However, the inventory available is insufficient to return our entire team to enable a “normal” schedule, but we sure are looking forward to seeing you.

Once we are able to return to “normal,” we want to make you aware of your new responsibilities and the implemented precautionary measures.   

Before your appointment, one of our team will reach out to you (via phone or text) to ask you a few screening questions. 

We ask that if you have had a cough, fever, sore throat or any flu-like symptoms within the last three weeks, that you reschedule your appointment. 
Additionally, if you or anyone you may have been in contact with has tested positive for COVID-19 or has been asked to self-quarantine because of a possible exposure, we ask that you do not return to our office for any dental care until cleared by your overseeing physician.

Upon arrival for your appointment, please stop and read the front door sign before entering!  

Additional guests will not be permitted into the building and will be asked to wait outside or in the car. 

Exception is if you are accompanying a child for their appointment
If there are extenuating circumstances that require additional guest/guests to be with you, please speak with us NO LESS THAN 24 HOURS PRIOR TO YOUR APPOINTMENT and we will determine the best way for us to accommodate your needs! (We just need to ensure that there is adequate social distancing available in the office at the time of your appointment. We aim to minimize your contact with others.)

There will be a station right inside the door where you will be asked to:

Sanitize your hands (provided)
Put on a mask to cover your nose and mouth (masks will be provided or you can use your own from home) 
Fill out a special-consent form.  We are also providing a pen for every patient, so please take your used pen with you or place it in the “used” container to be sterilized.
We will also be screening you on a few key vitals like your temperature and oxygen saturation. 

We will be taking the temperature of all visitors (including accompanying guests - even if they are not patients.) For your convenience and safety, we will be using our NON-CONTACT thermometer. If elevated temperature is found, you will be asked to reschedule.
Oxygen Saturation is taken with a small finger cuff that will allow us to see what your oxygen levels are without any kind of invasive procedure.  (We will give you a cover for your finger to minimize contact between patients and will be using a UV sterilizer to maintain the cuff.)

After completing your paperwork, you may either wait in our NEW, LARGER lobby as long as you are able to maintain adequate social distancing (six feet) from other people, or you may return to your car and we will text or call you when it is time to be brought back for your appointment.
Although we are trying to limit your contact with other patients, there still may come a time that you encounter another person in our office.  Please abide by the taped off areas to ensure that you are allowing for adequate space between other patrons.

We have added many additional safety features for you and our team.  Those are listed below, but the first new addition you will notice upon arrival is…our new addition! (YAY!!!)  Our brand new, beautifully-designed office looks amazing and we can’t wait for you to see our new home away from home!!!
Other newly added or exponentially improved extras include:

Air purifiers - there are 12 new air purifiers placed strategically around the office. These medical-grade air purifiers will completely turn over the air in the entire office every 10 minutes and filter to a particle size smaller than the Covid-19 virus.
We will be barely recognizable in our “space suits” …but seriously, we will be wearing gowns, face shields, masks, hair covers, shoe covers, etc. but know that the same smiling faces are still there behind all that EXTRA. We might suggest that you come with a light jacket, even in the summer, because we are going to have to keep it cooler in the office so we don’t pass out from heat stroke under all that stuff.
Lots of the decorations in the operatory rooms have been removed - we are back to basics – so only items that can be properly sanitized from aerosols remain.
Purevac® HVE Evacuation System has been added to every operatory to help reduce aerosols at the source (your mouth).  This is just like our high-powered suction, but it has a mirror attached to it allowing us to work with greater control of aerosols and with fewer hands in your mouth!
Continued use of our Isodry® dental isolation system - this is the clear plastic “tooth pillow” we have been using for a few years now.  This system alone has shown to reduce aerosol exposure by 90% and in conjunction with the Purevac® HVE Evacuation System that figure approaches 98% aerosol reduction!!! (YAY!!!)
Ultra Violet boxes - we will be using UV boxes to sterilize items that cannot go through our autoclave (autoclave=high heat, steam, pressure sterilizer).  These UV boxes will be used for safety glasses, remote controls, blood pressure cuffs, etc.
Several items in our operatory will be wrapped in plastic barriers.  In addition to our normal disinfecting of every room between patients we are adding an additional barrier layer to certain “high touch” areas.
You will see members of our team frequently cleaning “high touch surfaces” throughout the office with cleaning agents that are EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) approved for use with Covid 19.
There is now an acrylic divider between you and our lovely Hannah at the front desk.
We will be keeping the coffee cups behind the front desk, sealed to reduce risk of potential contamination, so you will just need to ask Hannah and she will be happy to get one for you.
You will be given Peroxyl®   (this is just a special mouthwash) to gargle prior to treatment that has high aerosol potential (has a greater potential of spatter.)  This has been proven to effectively reduce bacterial and viral particles that can be aerosolized (spread into the air) during treatment.
Ponchos - yep you read that right! Ponchos will be used instead of your standard patient bibs.  Compared to a paper bib, these disposable ponchos will protect more of your clothing from the spatter that can sometimes be generated during your appointment.  By wearing these during your appointment and then removing them before you leave the operatory room, we will also be helping to ensure that if you lean against a counter or bump into something in the office there is less risk of spatter spread from your clothing.

We appreciate your understanding and patience as we navigate through this uncharted territory.  Keep in mind that when we do return to “normal,” we will be trying to catch up from being closed for several months, so we will be offering some extended hours. There may still be some delay in being seen for your preventative care.  Rest assured we are doing everything in our power to get you back to your normal routine. Hopefully, this is only for a short while that things will be a bit out of sorts.  It will also be VERY IMPORTANT that you let us know as soon as possible if you are unable to keep your appointment.  When you schedule an appointment with us, we thoroughly prepare specifically for you.  It is a time we set aside for your care, so if you are unable to make the appointment for any reason please let us know with as much advanced notice as possible so we can amend our schedule and preparation to allow for another patient to reserve that spot.  We pride ourselves on providing the absolute best in patient care - this will not change, but it may mean that due to our unwavering commitment to excellence, our “full open” date may not correspond with other dental offices in our area. We are so eager to get back and see all of your smiling faces!
